2009 marks the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns' birth and is the inspiration behind the year of Homecoming. Come home to the home of Burns in 2009 and celebrate his life and work at one of the many Burns-related events during the year.

Although Burns lived a short life, dying at the age of 37, it was fulfilling and eventful. Burns travelled throughout Scotland where he gathered inspiration for much of his work. The stunning Ayrshire scenery and the romantic setting of Dumfries helped provide the insight for compiling much of his romantic material.

With Annan at the beginning of the Robert Burns Heritage Trail  The Old Rectory is a great place to stay while enjoying the celebrations.  With Dumfries close by and Glasgow and Edinburgh about an hour away we are an ideal location to stay.

During Homecoming Scotland 2009 we'll be celebrating with a year-long programme of events to highlight Scotland's great contributions to the world: Robert Burns, golf, whisky, great minds & innovations and Scotland's rich ancestry and culture.

A spectacular calendar of events will mark Scotland's first ever Homecoming year. So, whether you're a Scot, of Scottish descent, or simply love Scotland, you're invited to over 200 Homecoming events during 2009!
